Lutherans for Life — Denver Chapter
Our Mission
Equipping Lutherans to be Gospel-motivated voices For Life.
Our Vision
Mt. Zion Lutheran Church & LFL Denver Chapter upholds the God-given value of human life and works to influence society to do the same. We strive to give witness, from a biblical perspective, to the Church and society on Life issues including abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, post-abortion healing, and family living.
Lutherans for Life is making a difference in life issues for the unborn, the premature, the aged and the handicapped. We are actively prolife theologically and politically every day.
Lutherans For Life (LFL) is so much more than an organization that produces facts and figures and keeps people informed on the latest life related news and political maneuverings. LFL is about speaking the truth of life—about Bringing Good News to Life. LFL applies the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the life issues, making Jesus known as the Son of God and Savior of all who can help and make a difference in people’s lives.
The focus of Lutherans For Life is two-fold. First, we desire to say very clearly that death is not an acceptable, God-pleasing way to deal with the problems of life. Second, we desire to say very clearly that there is a better way. We ground both of these in the truth of God’s holy Word. His Word defines what is not acceptable. His Word points to a better way, He who is The Way, Jesus Christ.
Elder's Pro-Life Statement
Beloved Members of Mt. Zion,
With the many assaults on the Sanctity of Life in our world today, the Pastors and Elders here at Mt. Zion believe it necessary for us to be clear about where we as a church body stand.
The Almighty and Everlasting Triune God has made all things by His Word, and created mankind in His image (Genesis 1; Psalm 8:3; Isaiah 44:24 & 45:11-12; John 1:1-4; Acts 17:24).
God has given us life, and given this life value beyond measure (Genesis 2:7; Psalm 100:3 & 139:13-14; Isaiah 44:2 & 64:8; Job 33:4; Matthew 10:29-30; Acts 17:24-29).
God has commanded us to fill His creation (Genesis 1:27-28 & Genesis 9:1&7; Deuteronomy 30:16). God gives us children as a great blessing to be cherished (Psalm 127:3-5).
God knows us and has plans for us before we are born (Psalm 139:15-16; Isaiah 49:1-5; Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 1:13-17; Galatians 1:15; Ephesians 1:3-6).
Life begins at conception (Psalm 51:5; Luke 1:41-44). God has commanded us to preserve and protect life, from conception to natural end (Genesis 9:5-6; Exodus 20:13 & 21:12-26; Leviticus 24:17; Proverbs 6:16-19; Romans 13:8-10; 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 & 6:19-20; James 2:11).
Abortion is the premature ending of a human life given by God.
We at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church wholly reject and condemn abortion as an evil act against a loved child of God. There are no exceptions in which abortion is justified. Not rape or incest (Deuteronomy 24:16), nor deformity or disability (Exodus 4:11; Isaiah 45:9-10; 1 Corinthians 1:27-31).
We at Mt. Zion give thanks to God for the overturning of Roe v. Wade and pray for every state in this nation, and all nations around the world, to firmly and completely outlaw abortion.
Likewise, euthanasia is the premature ending of a human life given by God. We at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church wholly reject and condemn euthanasia as an evil act against a loved child of God.
We pray that our members, and indeed all Christians, will be emboldened to carry out the good work of proclaiming God’s love for each of His children and His command for their lives to be preserved. (Proverbs 18:5&9 & 31:8-9; 1 Timothy 6:11-16; James 1:22-25 & 2:14-26 & 5:13-19)
